5 Weight Loss Strategies

People change for one of two reasons.  The first reason being moving away from pain, or the second reason is the opposite and moving toward pleasure.  If the doctor called you today and said that you are borderline diabetic, hopefully you would recognize the connection between food, exercise and diabetes and instantly have the motivation to make a change in your lifestyle.  That would be categorized as “moving away from pain”.  The opposite would be moving toward pleasure, an example of that would perhaps be having the desire to fit into a certain size dress, or having a special event coming up or maybe you will reward yourself with a vacation that only involves you gallivanting around in your skivvies all day.  Either reason can have enough impact on a person’s life to MAKE THE CHANGE. 

That explains strategy #1

Write down your reason for wanting to shed the weight.

Here is how this exercise goes…..=> write down “I want to loose weight” then ask yourself “what is underneath that, what is the reason for loosing weight?”  Perhaps your answer is “To look better” and then ask again “what is underneath that?” You are looking for the core reason for loosing weight. “I want to loose weight in order to feel better because I am tired of being single and would like to date again.” And once again, ask “what is underneath that?” and so on and so on.  What you will find is the deeper you go with that question, the more authentic of an answer you will get.  Once you have discovered the REAL reason for wanting to loose weight you may be surprised as to how meaningful that reason can be.  Write your core reason down on a sticky note and post it where you can see it.. Perhaps stick it on the refrigerator door.  Have compassion for yourself and know that the pain that was caused by gaining weight will be the greatest gift of your life.  Having that pain inspired you to eat wholesome healthy foods and actually ended up saving your life AND “oh by the way…. Your butt will look good” as a side effect.

 

Strategy #2

Drink plenty of pure clean water.

Yes, we have all heard that our bodies are mostly made up of water.  So common sense tells us that we need to stay hydrated in order to have not feeling thirsty.  But did you know that water is actually an energy drink, weight loss drink, natural cleanser and a fat burner?!?  That’s right folks, since we are 70% water not drinking enough water during the day causes a mild to severe case of dehydration. Dehydration is one of the top causes of severe fatigue.  Ever experience “brain fog” in the afternoon?  Grab a tall glass of clean water and just like a little flower, you too will perk up with hydration.  Water is the “carrier” for fat and toxins to leave our bodies.  Just like when you wash the dirt your car with water, it has the same effects on our internal systems.  Nothing… and I mean nothing, metabolizes in the body like water.  There is no other drink that cleanses, hydrates and does a body good other than water. Drinking water can help you stay skinny in a few different ways. First, a lack of water actually slows protein synthesis—the muscle building function in your body. So, if you want to burn fat and add muscle, your body needs to be fully hydrated. Also, staying hydrated ensures that you don’t confuse thirst for hunger, causing you to overeat and gain more weight.  So next time you are having a craving, have a tall glass of clean water and then pause…. And then decide what your body really wants in its mouth.

 

Strategy #3

Avoid all “Diet foods” and “Sugar Free” sweeteners

There is nothing “Free” about these synthetic chemicals… There is a serious cost to ingesting them.  Aspartame, for example is found any diet sodas, sugar free sports drinks and low calorie foods, is a chemical that blocks your brain’s production of serotonin. This controls mood and appetite amongst other things.  New studies show that artificial (no-calorie) sweeteners trigger the release of insulin in your body in violent spikes.  When there are no molecules of nutritious sweetness to feed your body… hunger is triggered.  When our bodies are hungry... it needs nutrients. Period.  News Flash > natural non-altered sweeteners contain nutrients.  So if you are consuming foods that “trick” your body into thinking that you are feeding it a nutritious meal and in fact you are giving it a malnourished meal, you will automatically be hungry within no time at all.  As a matter of fact, your body will feel irritated that you even thought you could try to trick yourself like that and will respond by getting light headed, moody and will even snap hunger pains in your stomach.  Even though in reality, if you could see inside your digestive track that you indeed still had food in your system.  The body doesn’t need an activity of moving food through your system because it is bored; it needs nutrients to pass the food from one end to the other.  So if you meal does not come equip. with those nutrients it will act as a thief and pull nutrients from anywhere it can inside your digestive system.  That is the best explanation as to why taking Supreme Greens before every meal will help digestion and weight loss.  One scoop has the nutritional value of consuming 2 pounds of fresh green vegetables. 

 

Strategy #4

Consume healthy oils for weight loss

You heard me right… consuming oils will trigger weight loss. Despite what you may have been told, fat isn’t always the bad guy in the waistline wars. Bad fats, such as saturated fats and trans fats, are guilty of the unhealthy things all fats have been blamed for—weight gain, clogged arteries, and so forth. But good fats such as the monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, and omega-3s have the opposite effect.  Specifically, coconut oil and fish oil are very useful in weight loss. They contain short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight. It is also easy to digest and it helps in healthy functioning of the thyroid and enzymes systems. Further, it increases the body metabolism by removing stress on pancreases; thereby burning out more energy and helping obese and overweight people reduce their weight. Love yourself, love your body will drop the weight

Scientific studies show that our entire cellular body is made up of energy.  If you were to take a look at any part of your body under a microscope, you would see that it is actually moving energy.  Studies also show that cells respond to spoken word as well as internal dialog.  I had a client once that followed my nutritional guideline perfectly for 10 weeks and was feeling frustrated that her “stupid belly was still huge”.  Those were her words that she used every day to describe herself.  She had already transformed her food intake, water intake and even began exercising for the first time in her life.  She was feeling frustrated that her belly had not lost an inch.  I asked her to begin thanking her belly for inspiring her to find me and invest in nutrition coaching.  Her homework for the next 2 weeks was to love herself and speak loving words about herself even if she didn’t really believe the words that were coming out of her mouth.  So for the following two weeks she would see herself in the mirror and say “Girrrl, you look GOOD! I love my belly, thank you belly for showing me the path of health”.  Within in 2 weeks and only changing her inner and outer dialog she dropped 6 inches from her belly!   Self love is all you really need for a healthy life.
